No matter the relationship there needs to be effort and work completed from both individuals involved. Whether the relationship be a romantic partner, child, sibling, parental, friend, peer, or another familial relationship there can be challenges that occur. Many factors come to play within a relationship such as: difference of opinion, up-bringing, environment, personalities, and approaches.
Within counselling, addressing these differences can be helpful to assist you to see things from a different angle, learn different tools to resolve conflict (communication styles), and allow a safe place to explore these challenges.
*Counselling can occur on an individual basis, or sessions can be set up for you and another individual to work together towards making some changes.
The key piece when working with someone that experiences an addiction is looking past the behaviour and into who that individual is and what brought them to this point.
