We’re living in an emotional charged time that can be negatively fueled by misunderstandings and assumptions. We need to take ownership to obtain information, process it, and ensure proper understanding.
It’s important to course correct the misunderstanding and assumptions by:
1. Obtaining factual and valid information (through creditable sources) in order to process the context of what’s being said or what is happening that impacts you.
2. Ask curious questions to understand intentions.
3. It’s completely valid to have a difference of opinion to others (it’s equally as valid to make a decision on how you feel based upon that difference when it comes to safety and sharing/aligning core values).
The key piece when working with someone that experiences an addiction is looking past the behaviour and into who that individual is and what brought them to this point.
